I. Am. Stoked.
A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to work with an outstanding crew during the reconstruction of Madison Square Garden in NYC for The Garden Transformed: Year 3.
The show's focus was on the reconstruction of MSG, to be completed in 2013 and not scheduled again for at least another 50 years. We spent 6 months spread over two years following famous athletes and musicians, sports figures and politicians around The Garden during the reconstruction, exploring the history behind The World's Most Famous Arena.
I spent a great deal of time working on site gathering location sound effects and clean dialog in an active construction site for the show's post production mixer, Paul Furedi. The full time construction environment made acquiring location dialog fairly difficult at times, but with tried and true methods to capture great location dialog and clever post production mixing by Paul, we prevailed. Our show was awarded two Emmy awards for audio in the category 'Outstanding Sports: News Series'.
It's not often in this industry that our work is rewarded in such a concrete fashion, and often we go months, and sometimes years without seeing the fruits of our labor. However, this is one time that I know for sure that my hard work has paid off and it feels good to be recognized for a job well done.
I am both humbled to have received the award, and grateful for the outstanding effort put in by the Star Crossed Pictures team for their incredible work on the show. It's a great feeling to be part of a team you enjoy working with, and I have no doubt that it lead to our success.
And with that said, it's time to work harder tomorrow than I did today, and strive for Emmy #2.
